QCIA Airport Services KMLI Pilot Reviews

QCIA states they are technically not an FBO, but they manage the self-service fuel pumps off K3 and maintain an accessible pilot lounge. Remember to request taxiing to the self-service fueling area. If you require pickup, there is a designated parking zone near Gate 28. You must contact the airport fire department at (309) 757-1739 to be remotely granted exit from the perimeter fence. They will record your details, and you call them again for re-entry when you are ready for departure. I experienced no difficulties entering or leaving, despite returning after sunset.

When arriving at the airport, be sure to request "South Ts" or "self service" if you require self-service fuel. General Aviation tie-downs are located adjacent to the fuel pumps. The fuel pumps are situated on the eastern side of the hangars. After vacating the movement area, proceed along the yellow line and turn left, following the signage directing toward the fuel pumps.

Terrible service experience! I stopped here en route to OSH, but the fuel service was non-operational. There were no NOTAMs issued either. I called the service attendant, but he mentioned he was occupied and unable to assist. Consequently, I had to proceed to the FBO and pay two dollars more per gallon for fuel. Avoid this location.

QCIA Airport Services provided a very pleasant overnight stop. Fuel costs were quite reasonable, and the overnight tie-down fee was waived entirely. Travelers should exercise caution when communicating with the tower upon approach, as they seemed uncertain about the airport's precise location. The self-service pumps and overnight parking areas are situated near Taxiway K-3; they are both clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend considering KMLI for your next cross-country leg or overnight stay!
