This was our initial stop on a wonderful Father/Son journey from Oshkosh to the American West. David was extremely friendly and as a fellow AF guard member, shared common experiences with my Son. The courtesy vehicle permitted us to tour the town, and this location is highly suggested. We endorse the 5 O'clock Club. The pilot lounge proved perfect for a brief stopover, featuring very tidy restrooms. Fuel was reasonably priced, and David provided us with a tie-down rope because of the windy weather. Stopping here is strongly advised; you are made to feel welcome.

The service and amenities at KUBE are absolutely five-star! I landed before 8 AM to attend a funeral in Rice Lake, WI. Checking out the late-model crew car with a full tank was both simple and convenient. (The advertised limit for the crew car is 12 hours!) We returned four hours later and met the manager, Richard Brekke, who is a GA enthusiast whose father flew a P-51 in WWII. Rick assisted me with topping off the fuel, which was reasonably priced, and we had a friendly chat. General Aviation airports like this one are becoming rare—make sure you support facilities such as KUBE!

Excellent airport with friendly staff, a courtesy vehicle, and fair fuel prices. A maintenance facility exists on the field, but they exclusively service Cirrus aircraft. Cumberland provides many amenities, such as Louie’s Meat Market. Radio contact with Minneapolis center proved somewhat unreliable below 6,000 feet during my visit.
