Wichita Falls Regional Airport KSPS Pilot Reviews

I made a reservation on FlightBridge.com with my arrival time after normal FBO hours. I also reserved a rental car with Avis through FlightBridge. The FBO was staffed by Jarrett at the time of my arrival. He informed me Avis did not bring a car over to the facility. Jarrett was happy to provide a Crew Car and maintained a positive attitude even though he had to wait for us to arrive. Excellent FBO and thank you Jarrett!

Stopped here for a fuel stop, I would not repeat that experience. The airport is primarily military. ATC controllers seemed quite complicated. This is not the right airport for a convenient stopover. The FBO staff had no idea how to fuel a PA46; I had to supervise them throughout the entire process.

SPS has proven to be an excellent stopover for numerous journeys. The FBO facility isn't opulent but the staff is very friendly; they permitted us to keep the crew car overnight when the local Avis branch closed early and declined to deliver a vehicle. Furthermore, their hangar fees are quite reasonable. Arriving at a joint-use airfield can feel daunting, but Runway 18/36 is generally not utilized by the USAF, and if complicated instructions are issued, simply inquire about your preference—often, your request will be accommodated.

Excellent service from the line crew and Mae in the office. We utilized a good crew car for a couple of hours. There were no fees associated with our piston twin after purchasing 50 gallons of fuel. Turning base to final, we were 500 feet above taxing jet fighters—a first experience for us.
