Excellent facility. The team at SpanaFlight is consistently helpful. There is a gate, but the access code is publicly known. Just ask any staff member, and they will readily provide it. They have a bar on site, and naturally, it requires patrons to be 21 or older. Furthermore, a Chipotle and a Denny's are located across the road. Tie-down fees are quite reasonable, so cost shouldn't be a concern.

Flew a PC-12 into Thun Field (KPLU) on a Friday afternoon. After several telephone conversations, I arrived and the FBO was empty. I was expecting two rental cars, but, since the FBO was closed, there were no rental cars available. There are locks on the gates (as there should be), but once you exit the controlled area, you cannot get back in to your aircraft because the gate code isn't published anywhere. Most uncontrolled airfields have a sign indicating the code on the inside of the gate.
