Santa Ynez Valley Airport KIZA Pilot Reviews

Visited with two other aircraft. There was ample transient parking available. The personnel there were quite helpful providing directions to town for dining. It is a brief walk, however, the unpaved path down to street level is quite steep. Utilize the crew car if conditions are wet or if any of your party has mobility issues. The town itself is charming and small, offering numerous dining and shopping opportunities. It makes for an enjoyable stop and warrants a return visit.

The staff at the office were very friendly. Cold beverages are available with a small honor system donation. Two crew cars are available upon donation to the non-profit organization. The rate was $20 for two hours. We verified that using Lyft would have been more costly. Furthermore, the donation is tax deductible. There is also a lounge or conference area available for your use if needed.

Landed four days ago and encountered a flat tire; the personnel were not very helpful. They seemed quite upset that I had a flat tire, suggesting it ruined their day! I would never treat anyone with such disrespect, especially when dealing with a flat tire. They offered no recommendations for mechanics and simply told me to resolve the issue myself. The airport manager kept complaining that he had to close the runway, even suggesting I maneuver off the active surface so the runway could remain open. The manager also argued about the traffic pattern, claiming that conducting an approach was ill-advised. We were operating IFR and executed the RNAV approach for Runway 08—completely legal, and there were no other aircraft in the pattern. I cannot recommend this facility based on the service received.
