DC Metro Aviation Services KGAI Pilot Reviews
Thomas
November 29, 2025They have a minimum fuel purchase rule of 10 gallons when using the fuel truck. Since I only required 3 gallons before my flight, I was billed for an additional 7 gallons. Consequently, I paid nearly $70 for just 3 gallons of fuel. I inquired about taking the remaining 7 gallons after my flight, but they declined, stating the 10-gallon minimum covers the labor cost for the line personnel to deliver and pump the fuel. This felt like very questionable business practice—I was completely unaware of this policy.

May 24, 2025The self-serve fuel machine is very inconsistent with its operation.

April 25, 2025The staff was friendly, and they waived the $80 landing fee when I took 50 gallons. They have a nice, popular restaurant, and the courtesy car provided was a small Hyundai for dining further afield. It is about a 10 to 15-minute drive to the Shady Oak metro station.

March 29, 2023A very pleasant airport. The dining facility opens early, and it remains open on Mondays when many establishments are closed. It is excellent for any meal and features an outdoor area for aircraft observation. Staff members are quite welcoming. Fueling services respond promptly to both radio and cellular communications. Traffic flow can be active due to instructional flights (though the SRFA often directs training sorties elsewhere for pattern practice), so attentiveness is crucial. This facility provides convenient access to U of MD, DC, and Baltimore, avoiding the complexities associated with Class B airspace upon arrival.
