Shannon Airport, LLC KEZF Pilot Reviews

July 20, 2025Excellent location for a stopover—refueling and grabbing a nice meal. I have visited three times over the past two months to purchase Jet A, and the fuel truck was ready immediately after I exited the helicopter. On only one occasion did I have to wait for payment processing, and that delay was under ten minutes. The restaurant service for food is quite quick.

February 25, 2025Self-service fuel operations function smoothly. FBO staff were friendly and quite accommodating. The restaurant located on-site is certainly appreciated. However, one major issue involves the absence of secure tie-down anchors at the designated ramp parking areas. While the parking spots are clearly delineated on the well-maintained ramp surface, there are simply no means provided to properly secure an aircraft.

May 11, 2023I’ve visited this location several times annually for the last four years. Landing on Runway 24 requires flying over a road with vehicle traffic, and Runway 06 passes over an active railway line. Be mindful of your approach speed—if you are too high due to the road or railroad, you might float down the runway significantly! The FBO rarely acknowledges radio calls on the Unicom frequency. I have never managed to secure full-service fueling, although the self-serve option functions adequately. The personnel are pleasant, but obtaining their attention can be difficult because the flight school keeps them occupied. Furthermore, there are no tie-downs available in the transient parking zone; ensure you bring your own wheel chocks. Departing under IFR conditions presents some challenges. The RCO functionality is not optimal. It has improved somewhat since the publication of direct phone numbers. Quantico Approach is the primary controlling facility, though Potomac assumes control when Quantico is closed (check the AFD for operating times). All IFR departures are directed north toward the BRV (Brooke) VOR, even for routes heading south. This feels slightly concerning as it points directly toward the Washington restricted airspace. If Potomac Approach is experiencing high traffic volume, it can cause some anxiety.
