Excellent FBO outside of the pilots' lounge; honestly, can we not replace recliners that date back to when the building was constructed? Only two out of the eight chairs might function if you position yourself just right and press the button repeatedly. Best of luck.

I must admit, I am impressed. The new Manager of Modern reached out to me within two days following my less favorable comment. We spoke for almost half an hour, and he seemed genuinely interested in the feedback and desires the best possible experience.

For a Piper PA-24, the daily fee is $30 (this covers both handling and landing). If you take 15 gallons of fuel, the daily fee is waived. The overnight tie-down charge is $25. If hangar space is available, based on tenant vacancy, the hangar fee is $150.

Most of the wonderful staff from the excellent Wilson stayed on with Modern. Fuel prices increased a bit from Wilson, with the same required fuel to waive fees staying roughly the same; ramp fees remained comparable. The only issue we encountered was Modern closing the pilots lounge for the TSA during a DCA flight for several hours, while the lobby simultaneously became crowded and noisy. Hopefully, they devise a better method for accommodating TSA without inconveniencing the flight crews.
